I spotted a nice looking deal at PIXmania today. It is for the SAMSUNG LE40R88BD LCDTV. It is for £663.04 (one for us Brits) and has a big screen. It has 2 positive text reviews, which is not enough to go on but is not a bad thing either.

While this product is very appetising, I do not trust the user ratings at all. It has a 4 1/2 user rating out of 5 from 8 votes. As a webmaster and blogger I know how easy it would be to just get other colleagues who also work on the site to give certain products a good rating. I would not trust the star rating unless at least 20 users had rated it. I am not accusing direct TVs.co.uk of doing this, in fact I doubt it, but I generally warn that those sort of ratings are not to be trusted.

For some the full meaning of LCDTV may seem obvious, but to me it was not. LCDTV stands for liquid crystal display television. It’s a bit of a mouthful! You can see why they abbreviated it.

It is not easy to find cheap LCDTVs. There price range is tremendous and if you are not careful when shopping for one you could find your self $1000s needlessly out of pocket.
